Indiahikes

Our Vision

Over 12 years ago, our founders, Arjun Majumdar and Sandhya UC, started Indiahikes with one simple belief — Everyone Must Trek. They wanted to do this by bringing out information about treks, and by setting the right spirit of trekking in India. What began as one humble blog post about the Roopkund trek has now blossomed into India’s largest database of trek-related information. Today, we are India’s Largest Trekking Community, with over 20,000 trekkers joining the Indiahikes Experience every year. Here's the story behind our vision and how we look at the future of trekking.

Our Core Values — What Makes Us Who We Are You are Humble

Humility is the biggest trait we look for in our team members. Even if an applicant is highly skilled or experienced but not humble, we do not take them. You’ll find this as a virtue among all team members at Indiahikes — whether it’s our founders, our Trek Leaders, or our local staff members. A humble person makes for an ideal team member. They are open to feedback, easily teachable, curious, and eager to learn. They are able to grow and nurture the organization. Humility is practiced every day at Indiahikes. Those who are not humble are not encouraged to be at Indiahikes.

You are Fit

We expect trekkers to be fit for our treks. It holds true for all of us at Indiahikes as well. If we are unfit, then we have little right to ask trekkers to be fit on our treks. To us, fitness is a way of life. This means everyone has a fitness routine, and everyone is always ready to go on a Himalayan trek. If you are unfit and do not have a fitness routine, you cannot work at Indiahikes.

You are a Sustainability Champion

At Indiahikes, we have taken the responsibility of bringing in systems that make trekking more sustainable. We are here to leave our mountains better. We do this through our Green Trails project. And for this, the best place to begin is at home. So, everyone at Indiahikes is a sustainability champion. We buy little or no packaged goods, we use no disposables, we compost our waste, and we lead minimalist lives. This extends to everyone working here. If you do not lead a sustainable life, you cannot be with us at Indiahikes.

You Show Care

To show care for our trekkers is to put the needs and interests of our trekkers before our own. It means sacrificing ourselves on behalf of our trekkers. Caring means using our time, skills, and talents to help our trekkers. To show care is to give beyond what is required. Nobody asks you to do it. Showing care is one of our biggest differentiators at work. It has helped Indiahikes be where it is today. If you do not show care, eventually you will be a misfit at Indiahikes.

FAQs

HOW LONG IS THE GOA NETRAVALI FOREST TREK?
The Goa Netravali Forest Trek is close to 12-13 km long. This is spread over two days.
The trail mostly follows the section of forests and village trail on the first day. On the second day, it is mostly exposed in the open grasslands, taking you to the cliff point.

WHERE IS THE GOA NETRAVALI FOREST TREK?
The Goa Netravali Forest Trek goes through the trails of South Goa.
It starts in the heart of Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary and then takes you around the region of Cabo De Rama.

CAN THE GOA NETRAVALI FOREST TREK BE DONE ON MY OWN?
This trek has been brought out with the collaboration of the Tourism and Forest Department. So unless you get permits to do this trek, you will not be allowed to trek in the sanctuary.
You can approach the concerned departments and authorities to get permits for this trek.

WHERE ARE THE TEMPERATURES ONE CAN EXPECT ON THE GOA NETRAVALI FOREST TREK?
The temperatures during the trek will be pleasant. The maximum temperature during the day can go up to 27 degrees around the cities of Margao or Cabo De Rama. In the forest section of Netravali, it would be even 2-3 degrees cooler.
You will be trekking in one T-shirt and one pair of trekking pants. Since you are trekking on the coast, unexpected rains can happen. So you need to come prepared for occasional rain with either an umbrella or poncho.

Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary has Indian bison, also known as guars. Apart from these, you do not have any other wild animals.

The total cost of the vehicle is 24,000rs for the entire duration. This will be divided amongst all the trekkers who are taking the vehicle, individually.

Packages, Timings & Rentals

Goa Netravali Forest Trek.:

Price per person: Rs. 6,450 + 5% GST + Rs 90 Trek Insurance

Overview:
At Indiahikes, we love these treks. One of our favourites is the Goa Netravali Forest Trek. It combines the best of the beaches and the jungles, revealing a side of Goa that few have experienced.
The trek begins as we drive from Margao to the heart of Goa’s greenery—the Netravali Wildlife Sanctuary. Here, we stay at a forest guesthouse, or sometimes, in tents that immerse us in the wild surroundings. The silence of the jungle, interrupted only by birdsong, begins to work its magic as soon as we arrive.

The next day, we step into the Goa Netravali Sanctuary for the main part of our trek. Walking through Netravali is like entering a hidden botanical paradise. The trail is surrounded by dense forests, and the chorus of birdsong accompanies us all the way.

As we trek deeper, we reach the beautiful Mainapi Waterfall. The crystal-clear water forms a shallow pool at the base of the falls. It’s the perfect place to pause, dip our feet into the cool water, and enjoy a moment of serenity.
Later in the day, we make our way to the pristine Agonda Beach, where we unwind at a beachside resort. The sound of waves crashing against the shore and the sun setting over the horizon creates an unforgettable experience. It’s a tranquil end to a day of exploring Goa’s jungles and waterfalls.
On our final day, we head toward the famous Cabo de Rama fort. Our trail takes us along a scenic path that leads to a viewpoint with panoramic views of palm-fringed beaches and the endless blue of the Arabian Sea. The sight is nothing short of spectacular.

We then explore the historic Cabo de Rama Fort, built by Shivaji in 1679. The fort, with its ancient cannons and bastions, tells the story of Goa’s rich past. From the fort’s vantage point, we take in the vast expanse of the Arabian Sea before we make our way back to Margao.
This trek is a journey through Goa’s hidden gems—its untouched forests, peaceful villages, secluded beaches, and fascinating history. It’s not just about reaching a destination, but about experiencing the real essence of Goa. And it’s a trek that will captivate the adventurer in you.
