Goa signs MoU with Uttarakhand to strengthen tourism cooperation

The Government of Goa and the Government of Uttarakhand have signed an MoU with an aim to enhance the overall tourism in both states. The signing was held in the presence of the Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, IT & EC and Printing & Stationery, Goa, Shri Rohan Khaunte, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, in Dehradun on May 23, 2023. The MoU aims to promote bilateral cooperation in the travel and tourism sector. This marks a significant step towards promoting tourism in Goa and Uttarakhand and showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity. The initiative is aligned with the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ campaign launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to encourage people to experience India’s rich and vibrant cultural history.

The MoU will explore the best of what both states have to offer, with a special focus on spiritual, wellness, and eco-tourism circuits and collaboration on creating joint tourism packages to facilitate tourist footfalls to Goa and Uttarakhand. The initiative also saw the inauguration of the first direct flight between Goa and Dehradun, from Indigo Airlines, launched on May 23. This will pave the way for convenient and faster travel between the two states. While the MoU between Goa and Uttarakhand aims to boost tourism, its focus will also be on art, cuisines, handicrafts, festivals and human resource development in both states.
