Off beat Family Tour of North Goa

A family holiday always spells fun, frolic and good memories. The state has loads of activities for everyone to revel in and not feel bored. GTDC runs tours in North and South Goa for groups and the recent hop-on and hop-off tours, a new initiative by the GTDC, has seen a great response. Riding on an open air bus is a unique way to see the city sights. Here’s a quick guide to help you around your North Goa sojourn. Depending on whether you’re here for three days or a  week, you can adjust your plan and make visits at your own  pace.

Panaji

Start off your North Goa sojourn in Panaji, the capital city. Its old world beauty, its charm hidden away in every corner of every little lane and its standing heritage monuments makes it a dream destination for the family. You can wind your way through the colorful streets of Fontainhas or roam the city centre and shop along the way.

To continue your excursion, move to Campal’s green parks that are ideal for the young ones. You can also enjoy long walks on the interior park track that lines the waterfront. You can spot Reis Magos fort across the scintillating waters of the River Mandovi.

You can hop over to the city’s iconic structure, the Kala Academy next door and take in the unique architecture of Charles Correia.

Head to the beach in Miramar next. If the heat is blazing down, you can take shelter and discover interesting scientific facts at the Goa Science Centre. You can stop over for lunch at Miramar Residency’s in house restaurant before you head off to your next  destination.

Chorao Island

To experience Goa in all its wonder and beauty, a trip to this island is a must. The family will enjoy the ferry ride across to Chorao Island where you can experience a scenic drive around. The Dr Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is an informative stop on the way. Apart from the picturesque road,  Chorao is filled with beautiful hamlets.

Head back home once you’ve soaked in all the sights.
