Panaji City

Getting Around

Panjim is easy to get around. Public transport is available from, KTC located at the entrance of the city. You can book a cab on GTDC partner cab service, Goa Miles (Book Here), or you’ll even find a take a motorcycle taxi available at various locations.

Food

Panaji takes you on a gastronomical journey of various culinary tastes. The GTDC residencies at Panaji and Miramar serve authentic Goan delights, along with other multi-cuisines to entice the foodies.   

The city also boats of some of the authentic Goan restaurants like Ritz Classic, Viva Panaji, Casa Bhosle, Mum’s Kitchen and Konkanni Kanteen to mention a few.

Shopping

Panaji is a fashionistas favourite with it’s range of shopping options. From high end fashion to street style, a walk down 18th June Road, MG Road and a trip to the various malls like Caculo in Panaji and Mall de Goa in Porvorim will keep you in style.

For a signature collection noted designers like the late Wendell Rodricks and Ritu Kumar have their stores in the city. 

Entertainment

A beautiful sunset in the city is to be admired and GTDC’s river cruises along the Mandovi takes you on memorable sunset rides. These take visitors for a leisure ride down the river for an evening of fun, a glimpse of Goa’s culture and live music.  Movie lovers can catch a movie, old or new at the weekly film screening every Thursday evening at the Entertainment 

Society of Goa (ESG) or the latest at Inox located in the old precincts of the old GMC complex. There are plenty of pubs and taverns in the city that one can opt for a fun night out.

Art

You’re always surrounded by art in Panaji. From the arty streets to the art of the bygone era you can’t get enough. There are numerous art galleries like Sunaparanta, Gitanjali Art Gallery where one can spend a morning or evening depending on your schedule.

Government run institutions like Kala Academy, Directorate of Art and Culture , and private bodies like Institute Menezes Braganza, Fundacao Oritente promote the arts and organise events regularly.

History

The capital city breathes history through it’s heritage structures, religious places of worship and charming old homes.  Panaji was a city that arose after Old Goa was destroyed by plague. The capital was rebuilt stone by stone to a sprawling European style city where you can find a confluence of East and West.

Some of the important heritage structures are the Adil Shah Palace and Customs and Exercise Museum along with the iconic churches of Immaculate Conception Church and Hanuman temple offering breath-taking views of the old city.

Beaches

Panaji maybe a small city, but it has everything one looks for on a holiday. The Miramar Beach extends across 2kms from start till the Dona Paula jetty. Evenings bring out the fitness enthusiasts, families and groups looking to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
