Saligao, 11 May 2025 — The Heritage Festival 2025, organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, drew its curtains this evening with an overwhelming response from the people. Held over three vibrant days at the scenic Saligao Football Ground, the festival celebrated Goa’s living heritage through a rich showcase of folk art, music, food, crafts, and community spirit.
Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte said, “The Heritage Festival is not just an event—it’s a movement to preserve and promote the cultural wealth of Goa. From our folk dances and traditional music to our local entrepreneurs and self-help groups, this festival has given a platform to what truly defines Goa beyond its beaches.”
Throughout the three days, visitors were treated to an exciting lineup of folk performances including the Goff, Veerbhadra, Jagor, and Corridinho, along with musical acts by renowned Goan artists such as Sonia Sirsat & Band, RAAGA – The Band, RASM Band, and Black Sapphire Band. Each evening ended on a high note, leaving audiences mesmerised by the seamless blend of tradition and talent.
Local artisans and self-help groups showcased their crafts and culinary skills, providing an authentic Goan experience. From heritage food stalls to handcrafted souvenirs, the festival created meaningful economic opportunities for grassroots communities.
Shri Kedar A. Naik, Director of Tourism, Government of Goa, said, “ It’s encouraging to see such enthusiastic participation, which affirms our collective role in preserving Goa’s intangible heritage. The Department remains committed to supporting platforms that empower local communities while enhancing tourism.”
The final evening also featured a special segment dedicated to young performers, reinforcing the importance of passing on Goa’s traditions to future generations. The Heritage Festival 2025 highlighted the role of culture in building sustainable, inclusive tourism models.
