Goa strengthens visitor safety with a comprehensive tourism assistance network
Goa continues to welcome travellers from across India and the world, and ensuring their safety, comfort, and seamless experience remains a central priority for the Department of Tourism. With the peak travel season underway, the State has strengthened its multi-layered safety framework through trained personnel, technology-driven systems, and round-the-clock support, creating a reassuring environment for every visitor.
A key pillar of this network is the 24×7 multilingual Tourism Helpline, 1364, a pioneering initiative that serves as a single touchpoint for all tourism-related queries within the state. The helpline provides personalised guidance on accommodation, activities, attractions, heritage experiences, spiritual sites, and more. With assistance available in English, Hindi, Marathi and Konkani, visitors receive reliable information whenever they need it. The helpline also enables swift communication with authorities during any emergency, reinforcing Goa’s commitment to traveller well-being.
On the ground, Goa’s trained lifeguards, stationed along the coastline, ensure safe beach experiences through constant vigilance and timely alerts. Safety is further strengthened through the combined presence of the Goa Police, Tourist Police Unit, Night Patrol units, and the all-women Pink Force. Their coordinated deployment ensures enhanced visibility, smooth movement, and timely intervention across key tourism corridors, marketplaces, nightlife hubs, and event spaces. This unified effort enhances overall preparedness and creates a safe atmosphere throughout the day and night.
Technology plays a significant role in amplifying these initiatives. A network of cameras and smart monitoring systems has been set up across high-footfall locations, enabling real-time surveillance and quicker response times. The Beach Vigil App further enhances coordination among lifeguard teams and authorities, improving monitoring across beach stretches and enabling faster response during incidents.
Goa has also strengthened smart travel options, making mobility safer and more convenient for visitors. Goa Miles, Goa Taxi apps, Elect tracked rides, and reliable services, ensuring that tourists can move around the state with ease and confidence. Complementing this is the introduction of electric buses, which provide clean, comfortable, and reliable public transport across key routes. These buses support environmentally conscious travel while offering tourists a smooth and accessible way to explore Goa’s towns, cultural sites, and attractions.
Several additional measures further reinforce this ecosystem, improved multilingual signage, enhanced travel information, and close coordination with tourism stakeholders such as hotels, transport operators, water sports providers, and event organisers. Regular awareness initiatives encourage responsible tourism practices, while frontline personnel continue to receive training in basic first aid and emergency response to ensure that assistance is always within reach.
Together, these initiatives reflect Goa’s proactive commitment to elevating the visitor experience. Through the combined strength of trained manpower, smart technology, and accessible support networks, the state continues to ensure a safe, seamless, and memorable environment for every traveller exploring Goa.
